Scholars excel at OSU! Oklahoma State University is a leader in fostering students' academic achievement. During the last decade, OSU students have won prestigious national scholarships at an exceptional rate.
In recent years, OSU scholars have competed for and won many prestigious honors, including:
Truman scholarship, leadership, public service in the U.S. (OSU was named Oklahoma's first Truman Honor Institution in 2000 for its record of excellence in this program)
Rhodes post-undergradiuate study in Oxford, England
Marshall post-undergraduate study anywhere in England
Fulbright post-undergraduate study anywhere in the world
Mitchell post-undergraduate study in Ireland
Gates post-graduate study in Cambridge, England
Goldwater undergraduate excellence in science, engineering and mathematics
Udall two programs for undergraduates: 1) Native Americans in medicine or tribal policy; 2) environmental studies
Recent OSU Scholars
Matt Stiner
2007 Truman Scholar
Matt served four years in the Marine Corps before entering OSU, including 7 months of active duty in Iraq. After returning from hus duty in Iraq, Stiner focused on public service through speaking engagements and volunteerism. He also began working toward his dgree in political science by attending classes at Tulsa Community College and eventually, OSU. Following graduation, Matt plans to pursue a master's degree in public administration and a career in public service.
Cortney Timmons and Sarah Jane Smallwood
2007 Udall Scholars
Cortney and Sarah-Jane are among 80 students selected as Udall Scholars based on their leadership potential, academic achievment and committment to careers in the environment, health care or tribal public policy. Smallwood plans to work with federal and tribal governments related to agricultural and environmental issues, specifically water. Timmons aspires to design agricultual systems and program that protect and sustain the quantity and quality of water, soil and other natural resources.

Kyle Ensley
2007 Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellow
The Pickering Fellowship is only granted to 20 students in the nation and will finance the remainder ot Ensley's undergraduates studies and two years of graduate school plus a guaranteed four-year position as a foreign service officer with the State Department after he finished graduate school.
Tim O'Neil
2007 Jacob J. Javits Fellow
The Javits Fellowship is the nation's premier humanities fellowship for academically superior students who want to study at the master's or doctoral level in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. O'Neill has excelled at OSU, earning three Honors College degrees in political science, history and English. O'Neil plans to teach at the high school or collegiate level.
